A Helium Validator Node can be hosted with Ledger or Helium CLI wallet.

The unbonding period is 5 months. (250,000 blocks)

Instructions for Ledger (through the Helium Cli Wallet):

  1. Connect your Ledger wallet to your computer and open the Helium app on it.
If you already have at least 10,001 HNT in your wallet, start at step 7.

  2. Download and install the Helium Ledger CLI from the official GitHub: https://github.com/helium/helium-ledger-cli/releases

  3. macOS or Linux: Open the Terminal app in the Helium Ledger CLI folder and execute this command: ./helium-ledger-cli balance
Windows: Open the Command Prompt app in the Helium Ledger CLI folder and execute this command: helium-ledger-cli.exe balance

  4. Confirm the address on your Ledger.

  5. Copy your address from the terminal screen and send at least 10,001 HNT.
1 HNT is required to cover the costs of the initial and future transactions associated with your validator node.

  6. Wait for 1 confirmation of the transaction in the blockchain to occur.

  7. Select the "Ledger" wallet here: https://www.allnodes.com/hnt/host

  8. Follow further instructions from Allnodes.
While we are a non-custodial service, when activating a validator node, technically your coins will be sent from your wallet to your node address.
